ASB meeting today during lunch in the ASB office for all who submitted an applicaton for next year.

Students: Start getting your questions ready for the 3rd Annual Career Education Day coming up this Friday, April 13.

Solve a Rubics Cube blindfolded?

Are you a contortionist?

Do you have a black belt in karate?

Do you Yo-Yo?

Can you dance?

Are you a ventriloquist?

Seniors, would you like a change to perform on stage before you graduate?

If the answer is yes to any of these questions then sign up to show of your skills at this years talent show.

Coachella Valley High School’s Drill Team will be hosting this years: CV’s Got Talent – Talent Show on Friday, April 27th from 6-8pm in the auditorium. If you are interested in being a part of this years show, sign up with Mrs. Ramirez in room 206.

The ASB junior class is hosting a Prom essay contest to win a make over. You must be junior or senior to participate. Ask your teacher or stop by the ASB office for more information.

We are encouraging ALL students to stay in class, for the safety of our campus any students that leave before the 6th period bell will serve a 10 minute detention after school, riding the bus is a privilege.

On 4-6-18 Over the Spring break Track and Field competed against Yucca Valley

Girls Varsity Results CV 32 Yucca 86

Freshman Sarah Glenn wins the 300 hurdles, and 2nd in the 100 hurdlers. Mariquisha Zamudio wins the shot put with a throw of 33-03, and Jimmae Whitfield 2nd place with a 31-04.

Boys Varsity Cv 75 Yucca 52

The boys continue their win streak and beat Yucca Valley, with two De Anza League meets to go. Andrew Romero leads the way with a win in the 1600m, 800m, and anchored the winning 4x400. Armando Deniz wins the 300 hurdlers, James Herrmann the shot Put. Jeremiah Purnell wins the high jump with a leap of 6 feet , And Jovan Ramos the long jump with a leap 20 feet 2 inches, and triple jump 40 feet 09 inches.

Southland Janice Kelley Invitational on 4-7-18

Andrew Romero win the 800 meters with a time of 2:00 minutes, Armando Deniz places 5th in the 300 hurdlers 43.33, Victor Perez 4th in the 400meters 52.06, and Ashlee Huesca 5th in the 1600 meters 5:45 and 2:29 in the 800 for a third place finish.

Next Meet 4-12-18 against DHS

Cheer applications are now available in the athletics office. Tryouts begin Tuesday April 10 – April 13 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in the mini gym. You must have an athletic clearance with current physical exam on file with the athletic office. For more information stop by the athletic office.

We are very proud to announce our CVHS win at the 2018 HOSA State Leadership Conference in Anaheim!

Three CVHS HOSA-Future Health Professionals teams claimed Gold and two Silver medals at the annual Cal-HOSA State Leadership Conference in Anaheim.

The 1st-year, 100% sophomore team of Cabrera, Llamas, Santos, and Soto won Silver for their Community Awareness Prescription Drug Abuse campaign.

Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) team of Arredondo, Lechuga, Lopez, Lopez, Orellana medaled in Silver for their Disaster Preparedness projects.

Winning the first Gold medal ever for CVHS, MRC Team of Alvarez, Barajas, Cruz, Franco, and Lepe claimed 1st for their CV Mosquito Vector Control Medical Reserve Corp (MRC) partnership.

These three teams will go on to Dallas to compete in Internationals this coming June.

Attention all students interested in participating in next years Coachella Valley High School Drill Team Program. Try-outs are Monday April 11th, Wednesday April 13th and Friday April 15th in the high school mini gym from 2-5pm. Please wear all black and bring water. Application packets will be distributed at the try out and must be turned in by the last day.

Wed is the last home swim meet this year. Timers are desperately needed from 2:40-5:30. Come to the pool and we'll pair you up with a partner to time and record scores for 11 events.

Congratulations to German Cervantes for winning our 6th annual Junior Varsity golf tournament. This years tournament included 28 players from Brawley, Southwest, Orange Vista, Desert Mirage and CV High Schools’. German’s winning score was a 14 over 68 at Indio Muni a par 54 course. Elijah Chavez finished 2nd with a 78 and Isaiah Valenzuela finished 4th with an 83!

CV sports news:

Congratulations to the boys golf team for defeating 29 Palms High School in a league match yesterday 226- 231. Low scorers for the Arabs were senior Israel Flores with a 42 and freshman Elijah Chavez with a personal best score of 42! Raul Monroy carded a 44, and Jesus Zavala added a 46 in the win. We are currently 9-2 overall.

Congratulation to the girls softball team for defeating Desert Hot Springs 29 to nothing yesterday. The win improved the Lady Arabs record to 12 wins and only 4 losses. The Ladies were led by Kamryn Flores who went 5 for 5 at the plate and Beyonce Mondragon who added 4 hits with a home run. Cheyenne Sandoval, Kimmy Rodriguez, and Kayla Huerta also added homeruns.

Great job ladies.

Attention students-Our school plans to offer a Physics course in the next school year. Those who want to major in any physical science, Engineering, Computer, math, etc and those who want to attend professional school such as medical, dental, pharmacy, veterinary, optometry school are strongly advised to take the high school physics course. Oscar Solis wins the 800 and 1600 meters, Armando Deniz wins the 110 and 300 hurdlers, Jeremiah Purnell clears 6-0 in the high jump and Isaac Ramirez win the 100 and 200 meters. The Arab boys stay undefeated with one dual meet to go against Desert Mirage.

Congratulations to the CV Drumline for advancing to State Drumline Finals in the Advance Division. The Arabs will battle it out with 17 others for the right to be crowned State Champion in two weeks. This will be the 2nd time in 3 years the Arabs have advanced to finals. No other valley group has done it.

Congratulations to the boys golf team for defeating Desert Mirage High School in a league match yesterday 225- 332. Low scorers for the Arabs were Jesus Zavala and Israel Flores with a pair of 42’s. German Cervantes scored a 43 and Raul Monroy added a 45 in the win. We are currently 11-3.

Congratulations to the boys golf team for defeating DHS High School in a league match yesterday with a season low score of 219- 317.
Jesus Zavala was low score medalist with a 42. Raul Monroy and German Cervantes scored a pair of 43’s. Ismael Flores added a 45, and Elijah Chavez scored a 46 in the win!

Congratulations to the Varsity baseball team for defeating and getting the sweep against Rancho Mirage. Great pitching by senior Nate Delgado, who threw a complete game. Great defense by seniors Julian Inzunza and Adrian Diaz. It was a big offensive game as senior Kino Gonzalez goes 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and junior Gabriel Montoya goes 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored. The boys would like to give a shout out to Joey Acuna for taking stats and managing the scoreboard, even with a broken hand.. The arabs series next week is against Desert Mirage.

Congratulations to the CV Varsity baseball team who defeated Desert Mirage high school by a score of 10-0. Senior Julian Inzunza threw a complete game no-hitter and Junior Gabriel Montoya had 3 stolen bases, sophomore Jorge Herrera also had a big day up at the plate with a couple of RBI’s.

Freshmen softball had a huge win over Shadow hills with a score of 20-6! They host Rancho Mirage on Monday April 30 at 3:15pm.

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Swim Team for beating Desert Mirage 103-66.

Samantha Harkins and Olivia Garcia had two individual first place finishes and 2 relay 1st place finishes with Andrea Ceja and Sidney Sagun. Andrea Ceja and Magali Barajas also had individual place finishes. Frank Alcocer had a 1st place fininsh in 200 Individual Medley for the Boys Swim Team.

The boys track and field team finished the regular season undefeated beating Desert Mirage to captured the DeAnza League Title!!! Its been 13 years since the Boys program won a championship. Congratulation to the boys track and field and all the staff. Jovan Ramos contiuned his dominance in the Triple jump and remained undefeated in that event. Andres Romero stayed undefeated in the 800 meters and 1600 meters. Timothy Garcia wins the long jump with a leap of 19-03, Jose Cuevas the discus with a throw of 128-10. Isaac Ramirez wins the 100 meters and Victor Perez the 200 meters. Armando Deniz continues this impressive season in the hurdlers winning the 110 and 300 hurdlers.

The CV Girls beat Desert Mirage and place 2nd in the DeAnza League. The girls have an a great showing by Jimmae Whitfield in the shot Put with a throw of 34-11, and Ariel Otton wins the discus. Sarah Glenn wins the 100 hurdlers and A shout out to the girl throwers and Coach Seymour for sweeping the discus and shot put. Next meet May 3rd, DeAnza League Finals

CV sports news:

Congratulations to the boys golf team for defeating Desert Mirage High School yesterday in a league match, with a season low score of 212- 302. Raul Monroy was the medalist with a score of 40. Jesus Zavala added a 42. Israel Flores and German Cervantes scored a pair of 43’s and Elijah Chavez carded a 44 in the win. We finished the season in 3rd place with a record of 13-4, and play in 29 Palms on Tuesday in the individual league championship.

Congratulations to the CV Varsity baseball team on their win 4 to 1 vs Desert Mirage HS. Great pitching by senior nate Delgado as he threw a complete game with 11strikeouts. Senior Kino Gonzalez blew the game open and put the Arabs on top with a two run Home run in the late innings. Come out and support the baseball team as they battle it out in the next upcoming two weeks for the De Anza League title.

Congratulations to the girls softball team for defeating 29 Palms yesterday by a score of 16 to 8. The Lady Arabs were lead by Lizzy Olives and Beyonce Mondragon who each had 3 hits and a triple. Cheyenne Sandoval and Kayla Huerta each added a home run. This was the Lady Arabs 16th win on the season and guaranteed them a playoff spot in CIF. Great job ladies!

Congratulations to the girls softball team for beating 29 Palms yesterday 9 to nothing. Kamryn Flores pitched a complete game 4 hitter and Cheyenne Sandoval pitched in with 3 hits including 2 doubles. This was the Lady Arabs 17th win on the season. Great job ladies.

CV Track and Field DeAnza League Championships..The 4x100 relay team of Cesar Vega, Issac Ramirez, Victor Perez, and Angelo Fitzgerald win the relay and break the school record!!! With a time of 43.31. Congratulations to the boys 4x100 team. De Anza League Champions include Jovan Ramos in the triple jump with a leap 41-03, Jose Cuevas in the discus with a throw of 129-06, Marqisha Zamudio wins the shot put and Jimmae Whitfield places 2nd in the shot put. Sarah Glenn places 2nd in the 100 and 300 hurdlers. Important News:

The Athletic Department will be hosting a Signing Ceremony for the senior athletes who are signing their paperwork to accept scholarships and commit to the school of their choice This Thursday at 2:30 in the gym. Come by to support and honor your peers as they do this.

The athletic department asks that everyone who plans on playing sports next year come to its Physical day next Thursday, the 24th, in the gym after school. Doctors will be there to perform the required physical for next school year. The cost is only $5. This is mandatory for all Fall season athletes so they can be cleared to participate in spring and summer practices.

Attention all Freshmen and Freshmen Teachers: The end-of-the-year award ceremony is today, Monday, May 14 in the auditorium beginning at 2:30. We hope to see our award recipients and parents there.

Volunteers are needed at 7:00 A.M. to place flags at the graves of veterans and assist with setting seating. After the memorial service, volunteers are needed to stow the flags and return the seating to the American Legion hall in Indio.

Students, are you interested in traveling to Spain during Summer 2019? Don't let this opportunity pass you by!! Take an AP Spanish Language class next school year, take your AP test in May and let's travel during the Summer!! If you are in for the challenge, please pick up an application with Ms. Z Baltazar in room P2 TODAY.

The yearbook may be purchased in the ASB office at the price of $65 with ASB and $70 without. If you wish to purchase a protective yearbook cover, it may be bought in room 539 at the price of $1.

We are encouraging ALL students to stay in class, for the safety of our campus any students that leave before the 6th period bell will serve a 10 minute detention after school, riding the bus is a privilege.

The Migrant program has upcoming summer camps at Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Channel Islands and Yosemite National Park. If you are interested in attending, please come see Mrs. Lydia Rodriguez located in the counseling department for an application.
